The flood illuminator is a key element of the Face ID system, working through invisible infrared lighting to map the user's face. Due to the secure integration of the flood illuminator in the Face ID logic, replacing this flex cable may result in a permanent loss of the facial recognition function. Only Apple is able to recalibrate this component for full Face ID compatibility.
